We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization (EIN #27-2828905), dedicated to ensuring every student has the best educational experience at O.A. Thorp Scholastic Academy through fundraising and community building.

Friends of Thorp is made up of a small group of volunteers from the Thorp community, led by volunteer board members. Elections are held each year in the spring. We work closely with Principal Toledo, Thorp’s faculty, and the school community to ensure our initiatives are tailored to the needs and requirements of the students and staff.

Open meetings are held monthly — usually the first Thursday of each month at 7pm — either at school, a local establishment, or a board member's home. All are welcome to attend. These meetings are a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the board, our fundraising goals, activities, and what you can do to help.

Thorp's Footprint
As a CPS magnet school, O.A. Thorp Scholastic Academy has the unique opportunity to bring together students from across Chicago. The map shows the zip codes where Thorp students reside.
Over 1/3 of Thorp graduates are accepted into Selective Enrollment high schools, while others go on to have successful educations in the IB and top programs at their local high schools!
